" The Checkerboard " is the official Newsletter of the " Duxford 78th Fighter Group Association - WW II ". Reunion 2000
A great reunion is being planned this year in Phoenix, Arizona. The dates are October 19th to the 22nd.. Our hotel will be the Hampton Inn in Peoria, Arizona( suburb of Phoenix, north end ). The rooms will have all the amentities including a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and ironing board, et al. A heated pool and Spa are available.
As soon as the schedule is completed, an information packet will be mailed to all members. It will include reservation forms to be mailed directly to the Hampton Inn. Mark your calendars and get your reservation form back early!
This year's schedule will include a visit to the Champlin Air Museum in Mesa, Arizona, considered the world's largest Fighter Aircraft collection. Over 38 flyable fighter aircraft are on display including quite a few "Rarebirds".__
A hospitality room and a dinner with entertainment is planned along other things I haven't been told about. Carol and Durell Knowlton are working very hard to make this years' reunion a most memorable one.
